MUCM will develop basic technology for managing uncertainty in models, as a bridge between the basic science and exploitation. It will have three interlinked themes, each including a number of distinct work packages. The themes are High Dimensionality, Using Observational Data and Realising the Potential.  Various forms of output are planned:

  • Journal articles: A major part of MUCM’s formal output will comprise journal articles describing methods and applications of MUCM technology.  These will be in the journals of various application fields, as well as in the statistical literature.

  • Specifications of methods: The procedures for carrying out various kinds of analysis will be specified formally in UML

  • Case Studies: We will complete at least 3 substantial case studies in different application areas.  Although parts or versions of the case studies will be submitted for publication in academic journals, we intend to make each available as a detailed and comprehensive report.

  • Conference presentations: MUCM team members will present their work regularly at conferences.

  • Workshops: We will organise workshops to present MUCM’s work.  These will be both at a non-technical level (for those interested to know what can be done) and at a more detailed, tutorial level (for those who wish to know how to do it).
